Middleton Graphic Design Firm Wins 5th Straight Package Design Award
March 22, 2017
For the fifth straight year, Chrysalis Design Works, a Madison area graphic design agency, has been recognized with a 2017 American Package Design Award. This year the firm’s winning design was for their “Hop Box” design for the Thomas Hooker Brewery of Bloomfield, CT. A ‘variety pack’ used to sell multiple flavors of Hooker brands, the design features a wooden crate look filled with hops used for brewing beer. The texture of the wood is applied to all the logos and branding on the carton to give it all the weathered and textured look desired by the client.
Presented by Graphic Design USA Magazine, and sponsored by Neenah Paper, the American Package Design Awards recognize packaging and design firms nationally in all areas of consumer packaging including health & beauty, wine & liquor, and food & beverage categories to name a few.
“Our friends at Hooker Brewery asked us to create a unique graphic design for a new variety pack to be used for their more ‘hoppy’ beers. They gave us the ‘Hop Box’ name, and said to run with it!” said David Schield, owner of Chrysalis Design Works. “We had a lot of fun with this carton and knew we wanted a crafty feel to the carton overall, but we had to maintain as much of the current branding we developed for their other packaging so we could maintain consistent shelf presence.” Schield continued, “This is the fifth time we’ve been nationally recognized for our work in craft beer category, which we feel in quite impressive for a local firm right here in Middleton, WI.”
Chrysalis Design Works (www.chrysalisdw.com) has been in business for over 16 years and has a core of local, regional, and national clients with experience in beverage packaging, website design, branding and logo identity design, as well as other marketing and support materials design and development.
