Community Makes Impact on Mothers in Need
June 20, 2017
An outpouring of support from local businesses made Mother’s Day a special celebration for the community’s women in need.
More than 120 businesses across Dane and Rock County joined together to make the 2017 Movers for Moms® donation drive a record-breaking one.
“We are overwhelmed by the community’s involvement to help local women in need,” Lisa Paley, General Manager at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Madison, said. “Madison’s drive was among the largest in the entire country both in terms of donation sites as well as total donations raised. It is a true testament to the values that our company and our community live by and we couldn't be more proud to be a part of it.”
The drive, which ran April 5 through Mother’s Day, raised 21,000 items for women in need. This staggering amount included essentials like diapers, toiletries, and other daily household items as well as luxury items. All donations went to YWCA Madison and YWCA Rock County to benefit the women that rely on their programs and services.
